An Entire Team of Web Superheroes

SiteCrafting employees aren’t just web geeks who stare at computer screens for hours on end-- that’s just what we get paid for.  Hidden behind those techno-savvy exteriors lie Philosophy and Art History Majors, musicians and photographers, movie makers and swing dancers, boy scouts and sports nuts.

We also play a mean game of foosball.

Brian Forth
Brian has been in the web development business since 1995 and founded SiteCrafting while working as Technology Coordinator at St. Charles Borromeo School in Tacoma. His work on the first widely distributed Learning Management System for Knowledge Universe led to a nomination for the Codie Award for Best Online Product in 2000. Today, Brian's tenure in the web development industry continues to afford him opportunities to do what he does best: help companies embrace technology as a means of growth and sustainability.

Contrary to popular belief, Brian does more than sit in front of a computer 24 hours a day. He has a double major in Theology and Philosophy, and a minor in Education. He also played baseball for Gonzaga University where he was once named Pac 10 Player of the Week. He loves fly fishing and looks forward to his yearly trek to Alaska where there are more bears and fish than computers.

Mike Ash
Mike has been involved with the web development industry for over ten years. He attended Pacific Lutheran University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Post-production on his second feature-length film has begun recently, which should be completed and ready for screening in early 2009. When his brain needs a break, Mike relaxes by playing video games with friends, hiking, fishing, and studying things not related to computers.

Ken Foubert
Ken Foubert is named after his uncle who, unfortunately, was purportedly the first casualty of Guadalcanal during World War II. He is a product of modern medicine–he's about 5 to 7 inches taller than he should be thanks to a growth hormone. He was briefly referred to as Cybernetic Ken thanks to an external bar that was implanted into his shattered arm. His Senior Unified basketball team for Pierce County Friends and Athletes, a non-profit organization that provides spiritual, social, educational, and athletic opportunities for developmentally disabled youth and adults was selected by Fox Sports Northwest for a feature story on an upcoming show about Special Olympics.

Kevin Freitas
Kevin has worked as a web developer in the Tacoma area for over ten years and joined the SiteCrafting team in August of 2005. His knowledge of web programming and database design is all self-taught and was put to good use in his previous job as staff webmaster at Pacific Lutheran University and currently through personal and volunteer projects for local businesses, non-profits, friends and family. Kevin also contributes to open source projects creating freely available plug-in extensions for the popular Mozilla Firefox browser and Thunderbird email software.

Andrzej Koziol
Andrzej graduated from Clover Park Technical College with an AAS degree in Computer Science. He is a passionate developer that likes challenge and is looking for new ways to enhance product quality and usability. He believes that Internet technology is the future and wants to be a part of it by creating a more user-friendly Web.

Mark Neidlinger
Mark graduated from Washington State University in 2000 with a BA in Management Information Systems. He grew up in Bremerton and now lives in Northeast Tacoma with his wife, Heidi. Mark joined SiteCrafting in March, 2006, coming from Kitsap Credit Union as the online services coordinator. Outside of work, Mark is involved in many sporting activities and at LifeWay Church, however much of his time is spent walking his dog, Buster.

David Poole
Dave holds a BFA in Art, and a BA in Computer Science from Pacific Lutheran University. After graduation, he had the chance to go back working as a logger but he liked the idea of working inside during the summer. He also passed up rewarding careers in landscaping, carpentry, and child care, all because SiteCrafting has air conditioning. Some people have told Dave that's he's a professional photographer, but he doesn't believe them. He prefers to think of it as a hobby, mostly because he's not making any money from it. Dave's other hobbies include staying up until the sun rises swing dancing, racing a 40' sailboat, and exploring the great outdoors.

Joe Izenman
Joe graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 2006 with a BS in Computer Science, and minors in Mathematics and Ancient Greek (yes, Ancient Greek). He joined SiteCrafting shortly after graduation, and has decided that it is vastly superior to working for Alaska (and he's never even been to Alaska). Outside the office, Joe plays guitar, keyboard, hand drums, accordion, melodica, and does a bit of singing for local bands This Shirt is Pants, Mr. Fusion, and family outfit The Izenmen. Unfortunately, he's had no luck fixing his theramin, so that musical skill will have to wait. He's also been, by turns, a theatrical lighting technician, arena rock stagehand, camera operator, and department store demolitionist. All but the last one remain hobbies—unfortunately amateurs wielding crowbars are frowned upon in most major retail chains.

Reena Hensley
Reena's web expertise comes from her tenure at SiteCrafting. She joined the team in July 2006 in Customer Support and quickly moved into Web Development. She has honed her skills at tapping into the web guru knowledge at SiteCrafting, and is fast on her way to becoming a web guru herself. When not at work, she's often spending time with friends and family, church activities and sharpening her video games skills. If you ask nicely, she will gladly beat you at a game of foosball.

Mark Walker
Mark joined the SiteCrafting team in October 2006. He's well known around the office for his love of all things sports and makes a game of keeping our offices clean and sparkling. Following his graduation from high school 1988, Mark became involved in the Special Olympics with baseball and basketball. He still is very active in Special Olympics and also plays on two softball teams. If that's not enough, he enjoys a variety of other hobbies including calf roping, horseback riding as well as driving go carts and his quad. As busy as he is, Mark still finds time to take care of his dog Bella and his bird Pierre. Everyone at SiteCrafting  knows Mark always has a healthy stash of candy available. His current sweet tooth indulgences include Laffy Taffy, Mr. Goodbar, Reese's Cups and many kinds of gum.

Sarah Freitas
Sarah earned her Bachelors degree in Business Administration, and graduated with honors from Pacific Lutheran University in 2001. In the past ten years, she has held a variety of corporate positions around the Puget Sound. Her experience includes marketing strategy, web design and information technology management. When not working, Sarah enjoys traveling abroad, playing piano, and taking sides on the debate of whether or not Han shot first.
Brandy Gladson
Brandy joined the team in April 2007. Prior to her time at SiteCrafting, she spent two and a half years with the United Way of Pierce County working on the 211 (formerly HelpLine) team and as part of the Volunteer Center. Brandy has been re-acclimating herself with western Washington after having been exiled to Las Vegas for six years. She enjoys being outdoors (especially in the rain), photography and studying foreign languages.

Anna Bjork
Anna joined the team in July 2007. She graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 2005 with a double major in Philosophy and Women's Studies. Prior to her time at SiteCrafting, Anna worked at Pacific Lutheran University's media lab and as a freelancer honing her development and design skills.  Anna loves the website development industry, as it is one of the few industries that really merges art and science. When not at work doing stuff she'd gladly do as a hobby, she enjoys reading, knitting and her personal design projects. She admittedly spends far too much time making avatars (user icons) for herself and friends.

Michael Pierce
Michael has worked for several graphic and web design firms and joined the SiteCrafting team in July 2007. He earned his A.A.S. in Graphic Design and Illustration from Seattle Community College and has as extensive design and online marketing knowledge that is put to good (and frequent) use at the office. He enjoys working in a dynamic industry that challenges him to learn new things as technology evolves. When not at work, Michael enjoys skimboarding, social networking and blogging, as well as keeping up with industry news in design, technology and web development. He's also an avid coffee drinker, and after much deliberation, has decided to switch from having a grande mocha every morning to a grande caramel macchiato with whip.

Nick Williams
Nick joined the team in September 2007. He graduated from University of Puget Sound in 2006 with a degree in Computer Science, and worked as a freelance web developer prior to his time at SiteCrafting. Nick enjoys web development so much that it's a hobby as well as a career. When not at the office or at home working on one of his web-based personal projects, he enjoys staying well-rounded by keeping up with his interests in sports and music. He's played cello for 17 years and is an avid fan of hockey.

Paul Sayre
Paul is a senior at University of Washington Tacoma, completing his Bachelor's degree in Computer Systems and Software. He has been developing and designing websites since he was editor of his high school yearbook and enjoys the collective nature of the web, believing that everyone can build off one another in a relatively Utopian way. He is an Assistant Scoutmaster for a local Boy Scout troop and enjoys playing the electric bass in his free time. Paul is eager to join the ranks of foosball pros in the office and is pretty confident in his abilities, having diligently studied foosball during every lunch break in junior high.

Mandi Webster-Martin
Mandi graduated from University of Washington Tacoma in 2003 with a BA in Arts, Media, and Culture (no, we don't know what that means either but she says it involved a lot of film classes). She was also an arts editor for Tahoma West, the literary arts magazine of UWT. Her work experience has been mainly administrative and clerical, so she balances it out with black & white portrait photography and planning art events around Tacoma. As a part of the SiteCrafting team, her eventual goal is to achieve the title of Guru. Guru of what, she's not sure, but she's already designing her sacred talisman.
Tri Nguyen
Tri is originally from Vietnam and, before coming to the United States, had minimal exposure to the web development industry. When introduced to the capabilities of the web, he was genuinely amazed at what a few lines of code could produce. His enthusiasm for this industry led him to complete his Bachelor of Computing and Software Systems from University of Washington Bothell in 2007. As a SiteCrafting developer, Tri is quickly becoming a .NET specialist and has confidently stated that he plans to become the new office foosball champion.

Tone Lawver
Tone joined the team in May 2008.  No stranger to web developing, Tone has been slinging code since he was a child and founded web application company ATL Consulting, LLC in 1999.  Tone appreciates the fluid and dynamic nature of web development, and is looking forward to its continuing evolution.

Tone joins the team as a web developer, with an emphasis on .NET.  While he claims to have no interests, hobbies, or hidden talents, a cursory investigation has revealed that Tone studied Economics, Marketing, Art History, Mathematics, and Business History in college and has strong opinions on automated giant loom machines and their influence on the end of the world.
